What is K'NEX?

K'NEX is one of the most successful construction kits in the world. It is based around a series of "Rods", which can be joined together by "Connectors", such as the one shown in our logo. Once they have mastered using these simple components, children and adults alike can use their
imagination to make potentially millions of different working models.

K'NEX parts are available in three different sizes, namely:

Micro K'NEX - the smallest size of K’NEX part, ideal for building roller coasters. Suitable for ages 7 to 11.

Classic K'NEX - the original size of K'NEX part, which can be used to build a wide range of different models. Suitable for ages 7 to 97.

Kid K'NEX - a version of K'NEX with larger, chunkier Rods and Connectors that small hands can easily join together. Suitable for ages 3 to 7.

STEM concepts come to life as students build and control K'NEX models using the K'NEX Discover Control Box.

The control box is an intelligent box that can remember the order and duration in which switches are pressed, and the time between the presses, then play back from memory. Stores up to 64 actions and allows for multiple outputs (motors, LEDs, buzzer) to be controlled simultaneously.

Build 5 K'NEX models, one at a time. Models are fully functioning replicas of exciting real-world amusement park themed models and include Gateway, Spinning Carpet Ride, Double Ferris Wheel, Swing Ride and a Tramcar.

Includes Discover Control box, mains adaptor, 2 motors, 2 LEDs, 1 Buzzer, and building instructions, student challenges and teacher's guide. The latter three items are supplied on a PC-compatible CDROM.

A major advantage of the Discover Control box is that it does NOT require a computer for its operation, as all functionality is controlled via the switches on the control box. However, PC-compatible software is provided in the set, which allows students to simulate the operation of the control box on their computer.
